What the application asks

Cat preferences

Choose kittens, adults, seniors, pregnant or nursing cats, or cats with medical or behavioral needs. Include your current pets.

Your availability

Choose 1–2 weeks, 1–2 months, until adoption, or “unsure, but flexible.” Confirm the stay with the rescue.

Before you foster

General guidance. Confirm fees, arrangements, and each cat’s needs with Stray Kitty Rescue.

How much space is needed? How should I introduce pets?

A quiet room with a door can give a foster cat space to settle in separately from resident pets. Ask the rescue about health precautions and when introductions are appropriate. Introduce pets gradually, following the individual cat’s care plan.

What’s provided, and what should I buy?

Plan for food, litter, bowls, bedding, toys, and a carrier. Some rescues supply these or help when needed; others ask fosters to contribute. Confirm what Stray Kitty Rescue can provide before buying supplies, including any special food or equipment for your cat.

Who handles appointments, costs, and emergencies?

Rescues often coordinate foster veterinary care. Confirm arrangements with the rescue before agreeing to a placement: which vet to use, who books and pays, and whom to contact after hours. Ask for an emergency plan in advance; for an urgent illness or injury, contact a veterinarian promptly.

Who handles trips to the vet and new homes?

Fostering may involve trips for checkups, supplies, or adoption meetings. Tell the rescue whether you can drive and ask what help is available. Agree on pickup and transport arrangements before the placement, and use a secure carrier for every trip.

What care is needed, and for how long?

Daily care usually includes feeding, fresh water, litter cleaning, and time to observe and interact with the cat. Kittens or cats recovering from illness may need more frequent care. Stays vary with each cat’s needs; share your schedule and agree on a care plan and availability with the rescue.

Which cat suits my home? Who can help?

A matching conversation helps a rescue understand your space, pets, experience, and schedule. Be open about what you can manage, including medication or kitten care. Stray Kitty Rescue can discuss available cats and their known needs with you before you agree to a placement.
