Everyday cat care.
Make food, litter, play, and routine care easier to manage.
Keep the essentials consistent, and notice when your cat’s usual habits change.
STEP 01
Food and water
Choose a nutritionally complete food suited to your cat’s life stage. Ask your veterinarian about portions and any health-related diet needs. Find out what a newly adopted cat has been eating and change foods gradually. Keep fresh water available and wash and refill water bowls daily.
STEP 02
A comfortable litter setup
Put litter boxes in quiet places the cat can easily reach, away from food and water. Aim for one box per cat plus an extra, and scoop at least daily. Kittens or cats with mobility needs may need a low entry. Ask your vet about new litter-box problems rather than assuming they are misbehavior.
STEP 03
Rest, scratching, and grooming
Offer a clean, comfortable sleeping place, toys, and sturdy scratching posts or pads. Cats vary in the surfaces and angles they prefer for scratching. Brush regularly, working gently at a pace your cat accepts. Ask your veterinarian to show you safe nail-trimming technique if you are unsure.
STEP 04
Make a care plan with your vet
Arrange routine examinations and ask about vaccines and parasite prevention for your individual cat. Keep identification details current. Contact a veterinarian if your cat is sick, injured, or showing a concerning change in behavior. Only give medication prescribed for your cat by a veterinarian.
